Valentine's Gift Idea: Petit Bouque by Marc Chagall

Posted: 07 Feb 2013 07:22 AM PST

Flower inspired artist Marc Chagall's painting, the Petit Bouquet is a highly desirable gift that fits very well as a Valentine's gift idea for the loved one.

The slender outlines and splashes of colour in Petit Bouquet epitomise Chagall's distintive style of painting. Bursting from canvas with great energy, Chagall's flowers seem to shower the lovers in a spray of bright pink confetti.

Petit Bouquet (estimated £8,000 – 12,000) is one of the two flower paintings auctioned by Bonhams Impressionist & Modern Art sale last Tuesday.

Bonhams, founded in 1793, is one of the world's largest auctioneers of fine art and antiques. Today, Bonhams offers more sales than any of its rivals, through two major salerooms in London: New Bond Street and Knightsbridge; and a further three in the UK regions and Scotland. Sales are also held in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Carmel, New York and Connecticut in the USA; and Germany, France, Monaco, Hong Kong and Australia. Bonhams has a worldwide network of offices and regional representatives in 25 countries offering sales advice and appraisal services in 60 specialist areas.

Cecilia Paredes' Landscapes Art

Posted: 31 Jan 2013 08:28 AM PST

Artist Cecilia Paredes experiments with her own body in her recent project titled 'Landscapes' where she blend into the background wallpaper. The collection shows parts of her body - mainly her back and her hands - painted in the same design as the wallpaper she is standing infront of. With the help of her assistants, she wrap, cover or paint her body with the same pattern of the material and "re-present" herself as part of the landscape. Working just like camouflage, the effect makes it hard to distinguish Ms Paredes from the wallpaper. Her hair is often the only thing that makes her form visible.
